Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. – Luke 6:38 KJV
Our perspective of on-line giving.
Tithing and on-line giving are two different ways that we can honor the Lord with all He has entrusted to us (Proverbs 3:9-10). Tithing is spoken about as something that we do in person. The Lord commanded to “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse” (Malachi 3:10). This was to be done to honor the Lord and remind ourselves that we ultimately trust in the Lord to provide for us (Matthew 6:24). It is a way to worship God and should be done at the local church in person. But on-line giving is another opportunity for us to give to the Lord’s work.
A good comparison would be preaching and listening to sermons on-line. It is important for us not to replace our attendance at our local church by just watching a sermon off the internet. We should not forsake the assembling of ourselves together in person, (Hebrews 10:25) and try to replace church attendance with listening on-line. However, it can certainly be helpful for us to also listen to good preaching and music from our computer, in addition to going to church.
Please take all the opportunities that the Lord may give you to grow and invest in the work of the local church!
